La présence américaine en Afghanistan ne se limite pas aux quelque 5 500 hommes (chiffres de décembre 2014) engagés dans l’opération otanienne Resolute Support qui regroupait 13 336 soldats en fin d’année dernière ).
Les Américains vont engager dans leur opération Freedom’s Sentinel près de 11 000 soldats (ce nombre comprend ceux de Resolute Support).
Ces militaires sont appuyés, selon les données officielles publiées la semaine dernière, par 39 609 contractors dont 14 222 sont Américains .

Rien sur le renseignement… Les contractors qui travaillent dans ce domaine tombent-ils dans la rubrique autres? A défaut de certitude, on peut parier que quelques centaines (davantage si l’on prend en compte les traducteurs) d’entre eux oeuvrent dans ce domaine.
Ils sont employés par CACI, SAIC, Sierra Nevada, PSI et quelques autres firmes US. A la liste ajoutons Mission Essentail Personnel et L3 National Security Solutions qui viennent de décrocher de nouveaux contrats dans l' »intelligence support » :

L-3 National Security Solutions Inc., Reston, Virginia was awarded a $7,076,616 firm-fixed-price contract for intelligence support to U.S. forces in Afghanistan. Work will be performed in Afghanistan with an estimated completion date of July 9, 2016. One bid was solicited with one received. Fiscal 2015 operations and maintenance (Army) funds in the amount of $5,307,462 are being obligated at the time of the award. Army Contracting Command, Rock Island, Illinois, is the contracting activity (W560MY-15-C-0002).
